Technology Education Teacher Position Vacancy

 

KCDHH in partnership with the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) is announcing the vacancy of a Technology Education Teacher position at the Kentucky School for the Deaf in Danville, KY.

 

Technology Education Teacher

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Teach students who are deaf or hard of hearing hands-on lessons to learn the concepts and roles of engineering, design, invention, and innovation in creating technology systems to solve problems in today’s global society.
  • Collaborate with peer teachers to develop and implement instructional strategies and assessments in technology education.
  • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and technology learning activities in the areas of assembly systems and line balancing, robotic applications and programming materials handling systems, automated storage systems, flexible manufacturing systems, automated inspection and testing procedures, identification technologies, CAD, CNC, CAM and industrial control technologies in order to communicate these objectives to students. 
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the physical limitations to of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of deaf and hard of hearing students. 
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, school policy, and administrative regulation. 
  • Attend professional development for knowledge, skills and current research on student achievement for deaf and hard of hearing students.  
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 
     
    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
     
    Kentucky
    certification in Industrial Education/Technology Education appropriate to the grade levels taught (grades 5-12).  Certification in the area of Special Education for the Hearing Impaired preferred.  Must have valid Kentucky Teaching Certification or eligibility for area and grade level of assignment.  Sign Language skills are preferred but not required. The school provides required Sign Language classes for teachers at no charge.

2010-11 Salary: Dependent upon qualifications, training, and experience.
