Position: Assistant Professor (Deaf and Hard of Hearing- Tenure Track)

Professional Requirements:

An earned doctorate in Deaf Education or related field. Doctoral candidates who have completed all requirements except the dissertation may be considered if they can demonstrate a verifiable ability to complete the dissertation within one year. Maintaining the job according to university policy requires completing the dissertation within one year of the date of hire. At least three years of PK-12 teaching experience with children who are deaf or hard of hearing. Certification in American sign language (interpreter certification, TASC certification, or comparable certification) and able to teach it effectively. Ability and willingness to support a bilingual/bicultural philosophy or demonstrate ability to collaborate with those who do have a bilingual/bicultural philosophy. Ability to work collaboratively; a working knowledge of current, research-based teaching methodology; a working knowledge of current certification requirements for education (DHH) teacher candidates and the applicable curriculum. Experience teaching at the University level (preferred). Ability to independently prioritize and complete all critical job responsibilities adequately and in a timely fashion. Demonstrated high-quality scholarship commensurate with the years of experience teaching at a college level (dissertation is a valid demonstration for recent graduates). Well developed problem solving and conflict resolution skills, and evidence of defending principles tactfully.
